Nic Brown Bleak are so named for a reason. Look up the word's definition and you will find synonyms like 'barren' and 'hopeless' which, when you listen to the coruscating racket they purvey, will provide you with one of several reasons they opted for their current moniker rather than The Marshmallow Fluffybunnies. "Songs For Cowards", their incendiary new(ish) EP is a listening experience akin to being blindfolded and asked to find the king cobra that's been hidden in a sackful of cutthroat razors. As punishingly vicious blackened hardcore goes, there's little else I've heard that matches it. Buy it and their latest album "No Light, No Tunnel", turn up the volume and go deaf in style. Favorite track: I'm For Sale.
